Professor Chien-Fu Jeff Wu is the X. Q. Deng Presidential Chair Professor in the School of Data Science at
The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. He previously served as the Coca-Cola Chair in Engineering Statistics at Georgia Tech
and held academic positions at the University of Michigan, University of Waterloo, and University of Wisconsin–Madison.
He earned his Ph.D. in Statistics from UC Berkeley in 1976 and is internationally recognized for his contributions to the
EM algorithm, industrial statistics, and the early promotion of the term
“Data Science”.
Honors: Member of the National Academy of Engineering and Academia Sinica;
Fellow of ASA, IMS, ASQ, and INFORMS; Recipient of the COPSS Presidents’ Award, Shewhart Medal,
R. A. Fisher Lectureship, and the Monie A. Ferst Award.
